Who is The Farmer’s Daughter?

We are so grateful to be a part of this special collaboration and something that is so close to the heart of Georgia Copeland from ‘The Farmer’s Daughter’.

These collaboration pieces are more than just hats that have been co-created together. They are a love story. A story that symbolises forever love and heartbreaking loss, of bravery, of grief, of every day struggles, of courage, and her continuous journey to help others through life after loss.

We are honoured to be able to bring to life the legacy of Lachie and Georgia’s forever love story.

The FOREVER Love Story…

GlenBarra was home and I had fallen in love with the hills, no phone service, waterfall countryside with your nearest neighbor being nearly 15 minutes drive away and the nearest small town 45 minutes drive on winding dirt roads. Working outside every day alongside my Dad, early mornings mustering with my dogs and horses, getting the boys smokeo and lunch organised with Mum in the kitchen even earlier, branding all day in the hot yards with my brothers, there was nowhere in the world I would rather be.

Then a few years into living back home, running the family business alongside my wonderful parents, I started catching up with a dear old school friend of mine. It was instant love. No, this wasn’t just love, this was great love, the kind of love where you realise you didn’t know you had been searching for home your whole life but all of a sudden, you were home. It was never a place, home was this person, home was my darling Lachie.

We quickly moved in together and life was as close to heaven on earth as I could possibly ever imagine it. Working every day alongside each other, remote living with just us two going on adventures, as much as we adore our friends and family and cherish our time with them, we never really needed anyone else.

Unfortunately a few years later, Lachie was in a major motor vehicle accident which saw him wheelchair bound for 9 months learning to walk while I was his full time carer. A role I was honoured to have. Lachie’s strength and determination saw us move back home to GlenBarra just over a year after his accident, where he could work light duties whilst trying to continue his rehabilitation. Life was always happy, even in the deepest struggles of rehabilitation, we were a formidable team and nothing could break us.

Tragically due to complications stemming from his accident my darling Lachie passed away in my arms on our remote property on the 4 December 2020 at the age of 30, just shy of his 31st birthday. A day I will never forget, but not the day that defines who Lachie and I are.

Since that day I have learnt how to live with grief. It has near broken me at times, but I move forward always remembering how lucky I am that Lachie chose me in this world. I was loved by the most sparkly, magnetic person, and what a disservice to his life if I don’t live mine now.

Before Lachie died, we had just sold GlenBarra and were moving properties, we had our wedding at Goonoo Goonoo Station in Tamworth completely sorted and were so happily, blissfully, peacefully in love.

We had visited the obstetrician to prepare our bodies and begin our huge family. He wanted 7 babies, I told him the old girl would do her best, but perhaps we could strive for 4 (I would have given anything to have 1 million little Procs).

We always worked side by side on the land and our plan once we had moved and settled in to our new area, once we had begun our family, was for me to step back from the labour of the farm and to finally open a homewares boutique, something Lach was so incredibly encouraging of me to do. Something I had always been so passionate about starting since I was young.

Running the family farm, driving the tractors alone since he left, alone with just our animals has been so acutely isolating I realised I needed to change my life, to reach for happiness again.

So who is The Farmer’s Daughter you may ask… Well, she is the daughter of two loving Dad’s both born in Rural, Australia, who have taught her grit and how to handle herself.

She is the daughter of the most elegant, graceful mother who has taught her to always be kind and giving in every circumstance and to every living thing.

A loving sister and aunty to all of her and Lachie’s nieces and nephews.

She is the Widow to a man who was the human form of sunshine. The most generous, kind, strong, loving, magic, magnetic person to have walked this earth, who lit up every room, and loved her deeply.

Quite simply, The Farmer’s Daughter is someone who is finding beauty in the world, in the small everyday simplistic things, and wanting to share them with you all so our lives can be enriched with joy and peace for every lucky moment we have.
